"I believe that women's fashion week in Milan has done some progress. But it hasn’t become a real “event” yet, as Pitti Uomo in Florence. I also think we should divide the event in two aspects: the society one and the business one.
Tourists coming in Italy love to combine both duty and pleasure. We'd like either to show Italy through the best it can offer as for shows, museums, meetings etc. On the evening society events are always very lively and crowded.
As regards business the trend should be centralizing, not wasting. This long and very boring calendar should be concentrated in less than a week. An eight days calendar with just one important show each day it's unimaginable. And technical presentations should be organized in the show rooms.
Of course everyone can show himself as he likes, but in that case it would be better to concentrate a certain type of meetings in the first part of the calendar and so leaving the conclusion of the week to great designers.
Paris’s week for example starts with the Japanese designers, then continues with avant-garde and ends with couturiers.
And honestly, enough of absurd shows! It's not true that buyers rush to odd shows. What we care about are collections !”
