In this series, we’ve been interviewing some of our favorite fashion bloggers around the world, today our featured blogger is Valter Claudio.
Tell us a little bit about yourself (who you are/what you do/where you’re from, etc.).
Hi, my name is Valter, i´m 24 years old, i´m a nurse from Portugal.
How would you define your style?
It´s difficult to define my style in just one word. My style changes with my state of mind. I´m not in favour of a fashion preconception, the style it´s a form of expression, it differs from what we want to express in a certain moment, place or situation.
How did you find your sense of style?
Since i know myself i´ve always had a passion for the fashion world, it´s esthetic. I cannot specify an age or a date, maybe in my adolescence I gave more and more importance to style, to what I really like.
What inspired you to start a style blog? What motivates you to keep blogging?
I started my own blog motived by a close friend that also has a fashion blog. At the beginning I didn´t took things too serious, what to expect from the new experience and my time was not that much and it coincided with a trip to Mexico.
Nowadays what motivates the most to keep the blog it´s the possibility of having a place where I can share my tastes, ideas and suggestions about esthetic, fashion and art.
How did you choose the name of your blog?
I imagined many names for my blog but I chose my own because it´s really what represents me first.
What was the best comment you ever received from a reader?
That´s difficult to answer because all comments are good, even the ones that disagree with my post. I believe that the different opinions, the share, let us see other approachs for the same thing. But choosing one comment I say any commentary by AmberHella, she´s my favourite Portuguese Fashion Blogger.
Who/what inspires you?
What inspires me it´s what surrounds my life, what i see, what captures my attention. It can rather be a colour or an old picture in a family album where all the ambience gives me all kinds of feelings.
What are your favourite pieces in your wardrobe?
I´m a very emotional person about my wardrobe. I can´t easily rid of my clothes because all of them remind me of certain moments, places and feelings. With whom I was when a bought it? Who gave it to me? Now i´m completely in love with my jacket from New Yorker wich transmits the essence of Burberry Prorsum. One of my brand image it´s my blue blazer from Zara, I can´t get tired of it!
What is your top fashion tip?
Be yourselves! Doesn´t matter if you wear a fur coat, oxford shoes or the colour of your chinos. Fashion shouldn´t be boring or tight. We must live it like a part of our lives, where we can show ourselves.
What advice do you have for new bloggers or people considering starting a blog?
Dare! Never be afraid to risk, be yourselves in a blog, create, imagine, show your soul! Don´t be merely followers, show what you really like. Above all, always enjoy!
What importance do social networks have for you?
I admit i´m an huge fan of Social Networks, they allow a global connection among all kinds people, it can give us visibility, a kind of power in our actions. Is makes possible and quite easier the sharing. I can give an opinion about a subject in Portugal and receive an answer from Russia, this makes us citizens of the world, not just from a country.
Your first thought in the morning?
What will the day reserve to me!
What is your favourite thing to do when not blogging?
Be with friends. I love the feeling of simply be among the ones that are specials to us, in a quiet and honest way.
For you, what is the world’s most fashionable city?
For me there are two cities that i consider elegants: London and New York. It´s hard to choose one of them, but I think New York wins “the battle” by a few points!
How would you describe fashion in the city where you live?
In Lisbon Fashion is becoming more and more interesting. There´s a peculiar contrast between different styles, we can cross a street and take a glance at conservative style and in the next street see a casual one. But I think Fashion is not so much developed like other cities in the world but that´s what gives Lisboa beauty, a work unfinished, like a science lab experimenting different formulas, ones with success others never come out!
What message do you hope to send to your readers?
This message may sound like a “cliché” but I would like to thank everyone that follows my blog, everyone who takes a minute of their lives to read my posts, my opinions and points of view.
Thank you all to be a part of this project that now it´s not just mine but ours!!
